This coming Saturday, June the 5th 2022 is World Environment Day which is led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and held annually on June the 5th since 1974. World Environment Day is the largest global platform for environmental public outreach and is celebrated by millions of people across the world.
This year the theme is 'Only One Earth', it will focus on the need to live sustainably in harmony with nature, and our possibilities for shifting to a greener lifestyle through both policies and individual choices.
Sunshine Coast Local Flora & Fauna Prints by Chony's Art Room
Chony's Art Room has been invited by Third Nature Projects & the Sunshine Coast Council to participate in World Environment Day celebrations this coming weekend in Coolum. I will be providing carbon printed images of local flora and fauna that live on the Sunshine Coast. People who attend the event will have the opportunity to use eucalyptus oil to transfer the image onto a large piece of beautiful cartridge paper.
Once the chosen image has been transferred, a variety of materials such as pens, charcoal and crayons can be used to 'highlight' or work into the transferred image.
The aim of this workshop is to create a collective community mural, that highlights the beauty and diversity of our flora and fauna while exploring an art technique that has minimal environmental impact and mixes science with art.
