MEET CHONY

A little about me

I am an experienced, qualified and QCT registered Visual Arts Teacher with over 20 years experience facilitating Visual Art classes & workshops for all ages and abilities from kindergarten to adults including those with disabilities within Melbourne, Australia, Australian Indigenous Communities, Papua New Guinea and Internationally. Now I am using my wealth of experience to design Visual Art curriculums and programs that suit the creative needs of all ages and spaces within the  beautiful SUNSHINE COAST, QLD. 

 

Collaborations

I have collaborated with William Mora to design and paint a large scale mural in commemoration of his mother Mirka Mora's life. Also, forming an alliance with Melbourne Royal Botanical Gardens to engage young people with local endangered flora and fauna through artistic expression. In Papua New Guinea, I teamed up with Jeffrey Feeger, a local painter to build workshops that engage and connect community. Together with producing artistic, digital literacies programs in some Australian Indigenous Communities. Currently, I am supported by The R

Why do I run workshops?

I believe that a regular arts based practice encourages participants inner-confidence, connectedness to self and others, resilience, mental health and most importantly HAPPINESS. 

 

This realisation led me to designing a variety of mindfully based, art workshops that are tailored to suit young people, adults, and corporate clients. I interweave meditation, mindfulness, music and art therapy practices which invite students to 'drop in' and 'let go' of any pre-conditioned ideas of what art is and simply be present to the unique art work that they are making.
